Birthday Pictures

No, I don't mean that I've finally edited Alex's birthday pics- infact, I've barely looked at them. It was a late night last night at the studio. I do mean birthday pictures as in the "session" I do with the kids every year around their birthday. Almost a month late this year, but I wanted to get Alex in his new contacts, so I had to wait. I woke up this morning to a sunny/foggy light- it was beautiful. I thought "wow, this is the light I dream about" and decided to rouse Alex and dash out the door. I had planned on doing Isabelle in her tutus- but she wasn't having much to do with the camera this morning. Not that she does any morning- or evening, or afternoon- anytime actually. She is still difficult, to say the least. She sees the camera and want's to hide. Anyway- I took them to this beautiful field filled with wild flowers and brought the stool I found on the side of the road and re-finnished. Specifically with this shoot in mind. I like the results. What do you think???

Oh- and you'll notice- I have pictures of BOTH the kids! WHOOT! (Only happens about once a year- at their birthday shoot! lol)

I'm still behind!

Suprise, suprise, I'm still behind. Now that senior season is winding down at the studio, I'll be able to spend more time on my personal photography. I wish I could share some of the studio stuff I've been shooting lately. I've been really happy with alot of it. Plus I"m shooting about 15-20 seniors a week, so it would be ALOT to share. Oh, and I just LOVE when I get a senior that's just awesome. I've had a few lately that are just incredible- great personalities, interresting people... oh well. Maybe I'll shoot some seniors for myself here soon. OK- so on to the photos. I don't have alot processed yet, but here are a few random ones. I have YET to get into ALex's birthday pics, but soon, I promise!

So first, are some pics of my Mom and kiddos- she's using these for her new Ad campaign.

I got my new lens- this is our pear tree- though I'm not sure they're edible, they have some black stuff on them, but they look nice!

Carousel

I've been busy with all sorts of non-photography related stuff lately, like school shopping for Alex, getting through the Dr's appointments and haircuts and whatnot. Plus Isabelle's doing preschool this year, so I have to prepare- I mean I have to prepart HER for that...

Yah, well, that's my excuse for taking a bit longer to do another post... and for why it's only a few pics. Anyway- enjoy them. I'm off to bed as soon as I hit "PUBLISH POST".

These are more from Isabelle's 3rd birthday. She got a private ride on the Carousel at the zoo (just happened that way) and thought that was just fantastic.

There's a petting zoo at our zoo- now, I'm not such a big fan of petting zoos, they make me feel all dirty and in need of a shower. SO- I was pretty darn happy that we got there durring the animals' "nap" time- except for this ONE little goat... Oh well, purell.

This is from when she got her presents- she LOVED the Knuffle bunny from Alex, and the Care Bear was a big hit too...

8-8-08

Ok, so I realise it's now 8/9, but I WAS writing this post yesterday, and I was getting close to hit "publish" untill something went haywire and I lost my internet connection. Now I COULD get all technical and explain what happened- but you'll know that it's truely all G(r)eek to me and that its actually comming from Earl, so we'll just skip that part, ok?

Today is a photo day. More importantly, it is Alex's 11th birthday- a fact that he's repeated at random moments throughout the day- just incase I should forget that 11 years ago I laid in a bed, moaning in agony for 9+ hours, to deliver him into this world... oh, that's a tad graphic, isn't it- sorry, I forgot this is a G rated blog here. That's right- the big white STORK delivered him to me wrapped in a blue blanket, all sweet smelling and clean. That better? K. Good.

It's been a whirlwind of photo-ops around here, what with all the birthdays and parties. And we're not even done yet. We have yet to do Alex's big KID birthday party, plus (ahem) MY birthday- can I just say, that this year is possibly the FIRST YEAR EVER that I have to work ON MY BIRTHDAY?!?! I think there should be some sort of law against that. Some rule that says that you should always have your birthday OFF from working- and maybe you should get some holiday pay along with that?! Who's with me? I'm thinking I should write the Senator about this- oh, wait, maybe not her- I think I'll take it directly to the President- maybe he'll pass it on through on his way out of the door of the oval office. Though that won't help me THIS year, though. Oh, sorry. I got off on a tangent. SO, Isabelle's birthday and party- done, Alex's b'day party- check, My b'day, check- oh- yah, and the big Plate summer birthday bash- next weekend.

With all this talk of birthdays, you'd probably be expecting to see some birthday pictures, right? Well, sorry folks, not today. Ok, well, maybe later today, but not this post. That was all a prelude to a small disappointment. Sorry, again. Don't freth though, you'll see some pics today. In the midst of all this celebration I did a little shoot for my sister. She's got a, well, horse farm? I think that's what you'd call it. I SHOULD know this, since I used to ride- but I'm not sure. Maybe it's called stables, or something of that nature. In effect she's got a barn full of horses, pasture (3 of them) and an area to ride them that's not fenced in... the song "Don't Fence Me In" comes to mind here. Oh, another digression. Sorry! The place is beautiful. And it doesn't have chickens. Which is good, since I'm not such a big fan of the smell of chickens. Horses, on the other hand smell pretty darn nice to me- the sweat, leather, hay... mmmmm, brings me back to when I DID ride. Dang, I do miss it. Oh, I did forget to mention that Alex remains allergic to them- poor kid puffed up like a puffer fish, but Isabelle went nuts for them. Even wore her cowboy boots in the hopes to be able to ride them. She also didn't show one little ounce of fear in the face of these gigantic horses. Or when she almost got trampled by the baby and gave me (and I think even my sister) a small heart attack. I think I have a horse girl on my hands. Makes me SO happy.

Ok, ok, the pictures. First is the view.

The baby- these long legs make it very difficult to reach the ground! Made me lol everytime she tried to eat- though if she were to try in longer grass, instead of the scruff near the gate, she'd probably have better luck!

This is the baby with her mama- so beautiful.

And it was some time around here when the baby gave me a heart attack in reguards to trampling MY baby... and my baby showed no fear in the face of danger.

No photos today

Well, I don't have any pics to share today, but I WILL. Soon. I have been shooting alot this week and just have to find the time to edit them all. I'll have horses, birthdays, zoo animals and a carousel to share with you all. It's birthday month in the Plate household. First is Isabelle, leading us off on the first, then Alex a week later, then ME (gulp, 29 isn't so bad, is it?). SO I'm sure I'll have even more to show you by the time we get to the sharing part of this blog. lol. We took Isabelle to the zoo for the first time yesterday and she LOVED it. I think her favorite part was the big cats exhibit. They were on the prowl and one of the tigers was rather vocal too. Then she got to see "baby jaguar" that were actually 2 leopards, but hey, she was thrilled! Of course, by the time we got to the end and she got to ride the carousel, she had a "private" ride, just for her birthday, then another with brother by her side. Man she loves those carousels- riding the "horseys"... "Giddy-up" and "Hee-Yah" and all that jazz. Alex enjoied himself too, don't let him fool you with that pre-teen 'tude... making its' self ever more present. Oh boy. Anyway, it was a good day. We have her kids' party tomorrow, then Alex has his next Saturday... lord only knows what Earl has planned for mine... then the big Plate Party with all the Plates, since there are SOOOO many summer birthdays in that group! So, get ready for photos gallore. Hey, maybe I'll get in a photoshoot sometime in there, and you'll get to see some great shots! Maybe.
