8-8-08

Ok, so I realise it's now 8/9, but I WAS writing this post yesterday, and I was getting close to hit "publish" untill something went haywire and I lost my internet connection. Now I COULD get all technical and explain what happened- but you'll know that it's truely all G(r)eek to me and that its actually comming from Earl, so we'll just skip that part, ok?

Today is a photo day. More importantly, it is Alex's 11th birthday- a fact that he's repeated at random moments throughout the day- just incase I should forget that 11 years ago I laid in a bed, moaning in agony for 9+ hours, to deliver him into this world... oh, that's a tad graphic, isn't it- sorry, I forgot this is a G rated blog here. That's right- the big white STORK delivered him to me wrapped in a blue blanket, all sweet smelling and clean. That better? K. Good.

It's been a whirlwind of photo-ops around here, what with all the birthdays and parties. And we're not even done yet. We have yet to do Alex's big KID birthday party, plus (ahem) MY birthday- can I just say, that this year is possibly the FIRST YEAR EVER that I have to work ON MY BIRTHDAY?!?! I think there should be some sort of law against that. Some rule that says that you should always have your birthday OFF from working- and maybe you should get some holiday pay along with that?! Who's with me? I'm thinking I should write the Senator about this- oh, wait, maybe not her- I think I'll take it directly to the President- maybe he'll pass it on through on his way out of the door of the oval office. Though that won't help me THIS year, though. Oh, sorry. I got off on a tangent. SO, Isabelle's birthday and party- done, Alex's b'day party- check, My b'day, check- oh- yah, and the big Plate summer birthday bash- next weekend.

With all this talk of birthdays, you'd probably be expecting to see some birthday pictures, right? Well, sorry folks, not today. Ok, well, maybe later today, but not this post. That was all a prelude to a small disappointment. Sorry, again. Don't freth though, you'll see some pics today. In the midst of all this celebration I did a little shoot for my sister. She's got a, well, horse farm? I think that's what you'd call it. I SHOULD know this, since I used to ride- but I'm not sure. Maybe it's called stables, or something of that nature. In effect she's got a barn full of horses, pasture (3 of them) and an area to ride them that's not fenced in... the song "Don't Fence Me In" comes to mind here. Oh, another digression. Sorry! The place is beautiful. And it doesn't have chickens. Which is good, since I'm not such a big fan of the smell of chickens. Horses, on the other hand smell pretty darn nice to me- the sweat, leather, hay... mmmmm, brings me back to when I DID ride. Dang, I do miss it. Oh, I did forget to mention that Alex remains allergic to them- poor kid puffed up like a puffer fish, but Isabelle went nuts for them. Even wore her cowboy boots in the hopes to be able to ride them. She also didn't show one little ounce of fear in the face of these gigantic horses. Or when she almost got trampled by the baby and gave me (and I think even my sister) a small heart attack. I think I have a horse girl on my hands. Makes me SO happy.

Ok, ok, the pictures. First is the view.

The baby- these long legs make it very difficult to reach the ground! Made me lol everytime she tried to eat- though if she were to try in longer grass, instead of the scruff near the gate, she'd probably have better luck!

This is the baby with her mama- so beautiful.

And it was some time around here when the baby gave me a heart attack in reguards to trampling MY baby... and my baby showed no fear in the face of danger.
